Last year, during his fourth season in the Maize and Blue, Michigan football star offensive lineman Trevor Keegan measured in at 6-foot-6, 305 pounds. This fall, Keegan is up a solid 15 pounds, currently measuring at 6-6 320 pounds as a 5th-year player, and is looking to bring home a third-straight Joe Moore Award to Ann Arbor, MI. On Friday, Keegan delved into how his new look and four years of college ball are bolstering him heading into the ever-so-important 2023 college football season.

Michigan football star breaks down physical changes

Michigan football has its best shot at a national title in decades — this is no secret. From experience to depth and talent, even a veteran coaching staff, the Wolverines are primed for a massive season. One key component of both of Michigan’s Big Ten title-winning teams in 2021 and 2022 was an elite offensive line; this year, it appears that the offensive line could be better than ever, which starts with veteran guards Trevor Keegan and Zak Zinter.

On Friday, Trevor Keegan went in-depth on his physical frame, which is considerably larger than it was a season ago, as well as how his experience is boosting him as a 5th-year senior.

“Yeah, I think last year I was like around 300-305, felt really good on my feet — it was just a little more difficult against a bigger 3-tech or bigger 2i to eat a bull rush,” Keegan explained. “So, I just thought, gain some muscle, gain a little more weight, but you know, still be quick on my feet. So that’s kind of where I got it from.”

Experience and more is bolstering the Wolverines’ elite offensive line

After four years with the Michigan football program, including two Big Ten titles, two College Football Playoff appearances, and numerous individual accolades, Trevor Keegan knows what it takes to be among the nation’s elite offensive lines.

“I think since it’s my fifth year now, I’ve kind of got a really good grasp on our program and the playbook,” Trevor Keegan said. “I really honed in just trying to read coverages and how safeties work and where the blitzes are coming from, so, just trying to spread my knowledge to the younger guys, just trying to be a better leader.

“I’ve never been a talker, but always just doing the right thing. But, the balcony view, I really don’t understand it, to be honest with you. But our big thing is to be where your feet are, so just take it day by day. Our big thing right now is the process over the prize. We’re not going to win a national championship today. It’s gonna take day-by-day, 1% better each day, and it’ll take care of itself. So that’s kind of my mindset.”
